Academic Positions Available

Lecturer / Assistant Lecturer

For qualified academics with relevant postgraduate qualifications, subject expertise, and online teaching capability.

Senior Lecturer

For experienced academics with a PhD, university teaching experience, publications, and academic leadership capacity.

Associate Professor

For senior academics with a strong publication record, postgraduate supervision experience, and proven academic leadership.

Full Professor

For distinguished scholars with international publication records, doctoral supervision experience, and institutional leadership capacity.

Minimum Qualification Requirements by Rank

Lecturer

  • A Master’s degree in the relevant field is required. A PhD is strongly preferred.
  • At least three years of teaching experience in higher education or professional training.
  • Demonstrated subject expertise and ability to teach online.
  • Evidence of digital teaching capability or professional practice in the field.

Senior Lecturer

  • A PhD in the relevant field is mandatory.
  • At least five years of university teaching experience.
  • Evidence of peer-reviewed publications or equivalent scholarly output.
  • Experience in curriculum development and postgraduate supervision.
  • Demonstrated academic leadership at departmental or programme level.

Associate Professor

  • A PhD in the relevant discipline is mandatory.
  • At least seven years of university teaching experience.
  • A strong publication record in recognized academic journals.
  • Evidence of postgraduate supervision at Master’s and preferably Doctoral level.
  • Proven leadership in academic programme development, research coordination, or institutional governance.

Full Professor

  • A PhD in the relevant field is mandatory.
  • At least ten years of university teaching and research experience.
  • An established international publication record.
  • Demonstrated experience in doctoral supervision.
  • Proven leadership in academic research, institutional strategy, or international collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality online lectures and facilitate virtual learning environments.
Develop and review curricula aligned with SOUAF and Zambian HEA guidelines.
Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects where applicable.
Participate in assessment design, moderation, and quality assurance processes.
Contribute to academic committees and departmental boards.
Engage in scholarly research and publication.
Support innovation in digital teaching methodologies and student engagement.
Participate in academic meetings.

Reporting and Work Arrangement

Appointments may be full-time or part-time if agreed by both parties. Successful candidates will work remotely and report to the Dean through the Regional Office in Lusaka, Zambia.

Teaching, supervision, meetings, and academic coordination will be conducted through SOUAF’s digital platforms.
