About the Call

Swedish Open University Africa (SOUAF) is a newly established University College in the Republic of Zambia. It will deliver high-quality online education across Africa and internationally, offering programmes in Business, Innovation and Technology Management, Education and Global Studies, and related disciplines.

In line with its strategic growth, governance framework, and accreditation requirements, SOUAF is recruiting administrative and professional staff across key institutional functions.

Position Details

Administrative Assistant

Position Purpose

Provides administrative, clerical, coordination, records, bookkeeping, meeting, and workflow support for academic and administrative units.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Office Management, or related field; minimum three years relevant experience. Diploma holders with at least five years progressive administrative experience may also be considered.

Organizational accuracy, confidentiality, digital communication, office systems, coordination, problem-solving, and professionalism.

Admissions Officer

Position Purpose

Manages the end-to-end student admissions process in line with institutional policies, accreditation requirements, and quality assurance standards.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field; minimum three years in admissions, academic administration, or student services. Master’s degree is an added advantage.

Key Skills and Competencies

Application evaluation, qualification verification, admissions systems, database management, confidentiality, and clear applicant communication.

Communication Officer

Position Purpose

Plans and implements institutional marketing, branding, public relations, digital communication, media engagement, and recruitment communication strategies.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, Media Studies, Digital Marketing, Business Administration, or related field; minimum three years relevant professional experience. Master’s degree is an added advantage.

Key Skills and Competencies

Writing, digital marketing, social media, graphic and multimedia communication, stakeholder engagement, analytics, creativity, and professionalism.

Human Resources Officer

Position Purpose

Coordinates recruitment, performance management, staff compliance, onboarding, records, staff development, and human resource reporting.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Law, Public Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field; minimum three years post-qualification experience.

Key Skills and Competencies

Recruitment systems, performance management, labor regulations, confidentiality, digital HR systems, reporting, and remote workforce coordination.

ICT Officer

Position Purpose

Supports and improves ICT systems, learning platforms, cloud services, cybersecurity, user support, digital classrooms, and institutional data protection.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; minimum three years in ICT support, systems administration, or network management. Certifications are an added advantage.

LMS support, servers, databases, cloud systems, cybersecurity, troubleshooting, remote support, user training, and documentation.

Internal Auditor

Position Purpose

Provides independent assurance and advisory services to strengthen governance, risk management, compliance, accountability, and internal controls.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, Commerce, or related field; minimum three years in auditing, compliance, risk management, or internal controls. ACCA, CIMA, CIA, CPA, or equivalent is an added advantage.

Key Skills and Competencies

Financial analysis, audit reporting, risk assessment, integrity, governance awareness, communication, and ability to work across jurisdictions.

Librarian and E-Resources Officer

Position Purpose

Supports academic quality through library services, digital resources, cataloguing, research support, information literacy, and resource management.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science with five years academic library experience, or Master’s degree in Library and Information Science with three years academic library experience.

Academic library systems, digital databases, research support, cataloguing, library management software, referencing standards, and service excellence.

Public Relations and Partnerships Officer

Position Purpose

Coordinates public relations and develops strategic collaborations with government, regulators, academic institutions, development agencies, media, alumni, and stakeholders.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communication, International Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, Development Studies, Media Studies, Political Science, or related field; minimum three years relevant experience.

Key Skills and Competencies

Networking, stakeholder management, report and proposal writing, institutional representation, digital engagement, event coordination, diplomacy, and confidentiality.

Quality Assurance Officer

Position Purpose

Develops, implements, and monitors quality assurance systems, accreditation processes, academic audits, program reviews, and continuous improvement mechanisms.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Master’s degree in Education, Higher Education Management, Quality Assurance, Business Administration, or related field; minimum three years in quality assurance, academic administration, or compliance.

Key Skills and Competencies

Accreditation frameworks, academic audits, data management, quality monitoring, reporting, analysis, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Research and Collaboration Officer

Position Purpose

Supports research coordination, grant identification, research outputs, ethics documentation, partnerships, MOUs, and postgraduate research administration.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Master’s degree in a relevant academic discipline; minimum five years in research coordination, academic administration, grant management, or institutional partnerships.

Research methodologies, grant writing support, project coordination, networking, academic databases, research ethics, reporting, and professional integrity.

Strategic Advisor to the Management

Position Purpose

Supports executive leadership, institutional planning, governance coordination, strategic partnerships, policy implementation, and organizational development.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Master’s degree or PhD in Higher Education Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Strategic Management, Leadership, Policy Studies, Education Management, International Relations, or related field; minimum five years senior-level professional experience.

Key Skills and Competencies

Policy drafting, report writing, diplomacy, governance, financial and operational awareness, institutional intelligence, decision support, and confidentiality.

Student Support Officer

Position Purpose

Provides academic, administrative, and welfare support to students, helping with onboarding, guidance, progression, student services, and retention.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Public Administration, or related field; minimum three years in student affairs, academic administration, counseling, or student support.

Key Skills and Competencies

Student lifecycle management, case management, communication, emotional intelligence, confidentiality, conflict resolution, and digital student support systems.

Work Arrangement and Reporting Structure

These appointments will be full-time unless otherwise agreed. For administrative coordination and academic governance purposes, successful candidates will work in hybrid mode both remotely and through the nearest office, reporting to the relevant line manager through the Regional Office in Lusaka, Zambia.

The roles require the ability to coordinate digital workflows, manage documentation electronically, and interact professionally with staff across multiple countries. Availability for virtual coordination meetings and academic forums is required.

The appointment will be on a renewable contract with remuneration aligned to qualifications and experience.
